About Arts Angle Vantage: Arts Angle Vantage’s programs prepare youth from diverse backgrounds for success by providing access to the arts and empowering them to use their voices to create arts journalism for the community. Arts Angle is committed to youth and the arts. Through Arts Angle, high school students learn about and engage in storytelling and the local arts. The result is their reporting and written articles and reviews about local visual art, dance, film, and theater. That reporting elevates youth voices and underscores the arts.

Since the organization’s 2018 launch, more than 60 young people from high schools in the Kentucky counties of Bullitt, Jefferson, Meade and Shelby, and Clark and Floyd counties in Indiana have participated in our workshops to review and report on the arts and creative events. Their work has been published on our website and in local publications, including the Courier Journal, LEO Weekly, and high school media.

Sharing work with partnering publications further elevates our participants’ voices in the community. Our young people's articles have been published in partner media, including the Courier Journal, LEO Weekly, and collegiate and high school publications. Our youth have reported on the Speed Arts Museum's exhibit "Promise, Witness, Remembrance" in 2021; the touring production of “Hamilton” from the PNC Broadway in Louisville series; and Kentucky Shakespeare's and Pandora Production's joint staging of “Shakespeare’s R&J.” In the summer of 2024, Arts Angle held its first audio storytelling program called Earshot.

** About The Arts Angle Newsroom: This program builds on seven years of experience to offer the region’s young people, ages 14 to 18, an exceptional opportunity. Through the Newsroom, which meets two times weekly (Mondays and Saturdays), participants can:
-
meet like-minded peers and gain a sense of belonging to the larger metropolitan Louisville community.
-
gain access to the arts and creative resources it holds;
-
report on these through articles and reviews;
-
receive participation awards for their work;
-
and have their work published as part of the youth-driven Arts Angle Newsroom.
